I am honored to represent Oregonians living in Tigard, Southwest Portland, King City, Metzger, and surrounding areas of unicorporated Washington County. For two legislative sessions it has been my pleasure to represent the citizens of House District 35, and I am eager to employ this legislative experience to continue the work of improving the quality of life in our communities and throughout our state.

I'm running for re-election as State Representative for House District 35 because I believe public service and policy-making are largely about creating opportunity. Creating opportunity for Oregonians starts with recognizing that the public and private sectors are interdependent. We must work diligently to improve Oregon's institutions and infrastructure to strengthen our economic vitality and improve our quality of life.

A thriving economy requires a skilled and educated citizenry. We must invest in our most valuable resource - human capital - to keep Oregon competitive. That means a world-class system of public K through post-graduate education isn't a luxury but a necessary condition of our success.

I also believe strongly that it is my responsibility as your State Representative to be accountable to everyone in our district. To that end, I hope to communicate with as many of you as possible during the course of the campaign. I look forward to hearing from you about how I can best serve you in Salem.

Because I want to hear about your hopes and concerns for Oregon, I plan to create a variety of opportunities for dialogue from now through November. This website will be but one venue for our continuing dialogue. As is the case with our campaign, this site is a collective effort and a work in progress. Constructive suggestions as to how it might better serve people seeking information about our campaign are encouraged.

While a great deal has been said about political campaigns (and most of it is unabashedly negative), I subscribe to the notion that campaigns are indeed about our vision for the future. Our state and nation face enormous challenges that require deliberative decision-making and intelligent adaptation to shifting circumstances. My sincere hope is that my re-election campaign can serve as an opportunity for a free and vigorous discussion about the type of community and state that we wish to have. I want to hear about your aspirations and priorities as we navigate the challenges we face as citizens of the great state of Oregon.
